Won’t I save money if I buy through the listing agent?
That's exactly what I thought when I used my ex-wife's attorney in our divorce.
That was a bad idea.
You might "save" a little by using the listing agent to help you purchase, but think about it...
The listing agent works for the seller They have a fiduciary duty to the seller. They want the seller to get every dime they can.
Get yourself a buyer's agent. Someone that will represent you, and have your best interests in mind.
Are commission rebates legal?
According to the Department of Justice, commission rebates are legal in 40 of the 50 states.
That doesn't mean your agent HAS to give you a rebate, it just means that they are allowed to.
